Frequently asked questions

Reddit GIFs

Will I get a .gif or an MP4?

Whatever Reddit stores. Old uploads and small animations are usually real GIFs; most recent ones are MP4 clips, which are lighter and look better.

What about posts with several GIFs or images?

Gallery posts are shown as numbered thumbnails, and you tick the ones you want.

Why does my GIF have no sound?

GIFs never have audio. If the post is a video with sound, see the page for Reddit videos with sound.
